Have you ever seen a situation where the air flow from an air pump can blow a strand of wool into fluffy tufts? This structure mimics the surface features of natural fibers or cotton-type short-fiber yarns, but still retains the low density, quick drying, and corrosion resistance characteristics of polypropylene.
From an application perspective, the air-deformed polypropylene yarn is suitable for weaving fabrics with the appearance of cotton or jute. It does not require the multiple processes of traditional spinning. Instead, it can be transformed directly from long filaments into yarn with a short-fiber-like texture in just one step. Throughout the entire process, factors such as air pressure, nozzle structure, and the feeding speed of the filament are the key control points. By adjusting these parameters, one can obtain air-deformed yarn products with different levels of loft and pile density.
